We have more than enough states to we can pass ERA if the deadline were removed.

The attorneys general of the three most recent states to ratify the order—Virginia, Illinois, and Nevada—filed a lawsuit against the Archivist of the United States, who’s responsible for keeping track of constitutional amendments.
The states are trying to convince the courts—namely the Supreme Court—to resolve this issue.
Now that deadline needs to go so women can have equal rights under the Constitution and those piecemeal protections can fade away and it won't hurt. Literally. |
Both Justices Antonin Scalia and Ruth Bader Ginsgburg have stated that gender equality is not a Constitutionally protected right.
